Maebaru was a city located in Fukuoka, Japan existed from October 1, 1992 to December 31, 2009. The city had an estimated population of 68,583 in the total area is 104.50 km² as of November 2009. A planned merger of municipalities was implemented on January 1, 2010; Maebaru and two towns of the Itoshima District, Nijo and Shima, merged to form the new City of Itoshima, Itoshima District ceased to exist.
